Tutor: Anna Maria Mazzieri
A one-day course for Massage Therapists Level 3 and above
This course is a continuation of Day One from which you will have the foundations and rationale for applying Soft Tissue Techniques. On Day two we look more closely at the clinical applications of the BPS (Biopsychosocial) model. Through a deeper subjective examination including motivational interviewing and the appropriate use of language you’ll learn to create a positive and client centred approach.
We will delve in the applications of STR both on and off the couch and practice advance forms of MET
We will look closely and more in depth at Positional Release and Strain Counter Strain
The techniques will be delivered and taught while assessing the most common musculoskeletal (MSK) complaints like frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis), knee pain and lower back pain.
- Consolidate understanding of contemporary Pain Science and the application of the BPS model in the clinical practice of the massage/soft tissue therapist
- Develop an understanding of Motivational Interviewing for effective Subjective Assessment
- Further develop manual/fascial techniques both on and off the couch, affecting the tonicity of muscles and increasing functional flexibility
- Apply the BPS model to the assessment and treatment of common MSK complaints
